This week, Disney decided to officially unveil their plans for “Moana 2,” the awaited sequel to its 2016 Oscar-nominated blockbuster. It’s only 16 seconds, but it was enough to get everyone talking. “Moana” remains one of those Disney films that I enjoy watching multiple times a year, a practice I don’t usually follow with other Disney films. I typically watched them once — mainly, I re-watched all of the classics in English when I moved here 15 years ago because I had only experienced the dubbed versions in Spanish.

I did this with many other movies as soon as I could understand English, and let me tell you, it’s a completely different experience — sometimes good and at other times bad.

Dwayne Johnson is set to return as the tattooed demigod Maui in the live-action version, which intrigues me, and I hope they don’t ruin it. Meanwhile, Auli’i Cravalho, the voice behind Moana in the original animated film, is confirmed to reprise her role in the animated sequel. However, she will not portray the title character in the live-action adaptation, which makes me wonder why, but that’s my chismosa side talking.

Cravalho will be an executive producer on this live-action, so I would say work smarter, not harder.
