You Could Use A Dose Of Humor

“Why so uptight?”

“Why the long face?”

“Whyyy sooo serious?”

These are questions I posit myself all the time; even while relaxing. But when I deal with overly serious individuals like family, customers, and strangers, these questions are like mental hand grenades being hurled in their direction.

I used to laugh midway through arguments with an ex girlfriend of mine about how pointless it was being upset with each other. Petty arguments are the pinnacle of taking things so seriously. It’s like taking a microscope to a pimple without acknowledging the rest of the body. Who cares about forgetting to lock the top lock before going to bed? We’re still alive right?

Approaching someone with an air of seriousness is like saying “my opinion is better than yours and here’s why” with emotions attached behind it (i.e. arrogance, anger, frustration,). They act like unwarranted authority figures.

Here’s a hint: nobody has a better way of living than the other. We’re all just living and eventually, we’re all going to die. Nobody knows what they are doing, but most of us are trying to do the best we can.

So lighten up. Smile. You have the choice of being happy in any given moment. If you don’t think that’s true, just ask yourself “what’s preventing me from being happy right now?” The answer might surprise you.

I encourage you to read, watch, or listen to something humorous. It could be a meme, stand up comedian, or humorous article.

For humorous stories, let me introduce to you The Howling Pickle publication. I marginally believe you won’t regret it.
