As college students, we can all relate about one subject: money. Nobody has a lot of it and it seems that no matter how much we try to save it, we are always broke. And you can just forget about going out in Old Town with friends because the $30 in your pocket can’t possibly allow for a night of fun-filled shenanigans, right?

Well, everything you thought you knew about going out in Old Town is about to change. That’s right, here’s 4 (actually fun) things you can do in ONE NIGHT in Old Town for less than $30:

1: Do a little light shopping

Old Town showcases a variety of small boutiques and storefronts. While a good number of them are quite expensive, there is a healthy sprinkling of low-priced choices so you can treat yourself (moderately). Boutiques like Cira Ltd. Clothing & Accessories offers a variety of cute clothing and accessories for affordable prices. As long as you have some will power, you can get a small piece for the night out for less than $10.

  • Budget after shopping: ~$24 -

2: Get some grub

While most of the well known restaurants in Old Town are on the pricier side, there are substantial benefits to straying from the “can’t get out of there for under $50” Austin’s, or The Kitchen. Places like Big Al’s Burgers and Dogs will satisfy your tummy and your wallet. They have various tasty options such as their “bacon guacamole burger.” And you will leave with enough money in your pocket for more Old Town fun!

  • Budget after dinner ~$16 –

3: Hit up happy hour

More often than not, drink prices can end up costing more than dinner. If you pay attention to some of the great happy hour deals in Old Town, however, you can save a lot of cash and have a good time while you’re at it. The Blind Pig Pub features an “all day happy hour” on Mondays (11:00 AM to 2:00 AM). You can enjoy your favorite beverages all for less than $4.00. So, have a couple Domestic beers and a microbrew, and you’re out of there for less than $10.

  • Budget after drinks ~ $6 –

4: Explore!

Old Town is one of the most beautiful little cities in the U.S. Its cute backstreets and painted alleyways are just begging to be explored. There is no better place to roam, especially in the winter time when the trees that line College Ave. are lit up with Christmas lights. And the best part is that this activity is FREE!

  • Leftover money at the end of the night ~$6!! –

So, after a night of shopping, eating, drinking and exploring, it’s probably safe to say you can go home satisfied after thoroughly enjoying yourself, and saving a few bucks.
