Yes, Fort Collins is likely one of the best beer towns in America. Visitors travel from all over the country to tour Odell Brewing Company and New Belgium Brewery. The local craft breweries are abundant and the bar scene is amazing…if you’re 21, that is.

For those of us who are two months away from turning the golden age, have relatives in town or just need some food prior to enjoying a nice beer, it’s still very possible to enjoy the Old Town Fort Collins scene.

Hence, I bring you the 5 best bar foods in Old Town Fort Collins:

1. The Colorado Room.

The Colorado Room not only rotates local craft beers, but has amazing food. It offers the obvious wings and burgers, but also sells, “sammys” which are a bit like sliders, but with shredded meat on them. My personal favorite, the bison, “sammy” features pickled vegetables, cilantro and teriyaki sauce. The bar also offers Poutine, which you can top with pork, beef, chicken or bison. The Colorado Room offers a different take on bar food, without sacrificing cost. And to top it off, a portion of the proceeds from purchases goes to a local charity.

2. Cooper Smith’s Pub and Brewing.

Cooper Smith’s Pub and Brewing offers great outdoor seating and likely the largest variety of food in town. Not only do you get front row seating to the festivities of Old Town (Tour De Corgi passes right through), but there is something for everyone. They offer a long list of kids menu items, gluten free items and allergy free items. The fish and chips are amazing, as is the brewers mac and cheese. However, this pub can get a bit pricey, especially on a college budget.

3. Black Bottle Brewing Company.

If you’re looking for a carnivorous meal that will last you a lifetime, Black Bottle is the place. Let’s just say it labels it’s salad menu “Rabbit Food” and it’s mac and cheese comes with a list of added meats underneath. Black Bottle doesn’t offer fancy meals, but if you’re seriously hungry it will get the job done. It also offers sea food, which isn’t fabulous unless in taco form.

4. The Blind Pig.

The Blind Pig offers a wide selection of food that most pubs don’t. This means that you can go healthy or you can go with queso fries. The bar offers a variety of soup, salad and sandwich options, but also covers your bases if you’re looking to stuff your face with duck wings…yes, duck wings.

5. Pateros Creek Brewing Company.

Pateros Creek is a great place to go on a sunny afternoon to enjoy Old Town Fort Collins. It opens up the side of it’s restaurant when it’s sunny and it also has a very nice patio. The food isn’t good, but the atmosphere makes it that much more worth it. It recently starting selling Matador Burritos and every other Tuesday it does Cards Against Humanity nights.
