Fort Collins is full of unique, creative, and sometimes even wacko specimens, which calls for diversity in artistic fulfillment to satisfy the local art freaks. We have the right people, but where are the right places to indulge in your absolute weirdness as an artist or even just a crafter at heart? This listicle is composed of 5 places and organizations in Old Town Fort Collins and Campus West where people of all ages and talents can indulge in their creative side, whether it’s getting involved with the local art community or simply taking a painting class.

1. Art Lab

One of the most unique Fort Collins organizations that taps into artistic expansion and appreciation is Art Lab Fort Collins. Art Lab fills empty store fronts with artistic exhibitions and events until another tenant buys out the property. The traveling nature of art lab mixes up gatherings for artists and puts a new spin on the way people can learn, create, and experience art. This organization facilitates events involving visual arts, music performances, theater, dance, gallery recognition, and other endless opportunities for workshops and activities. Check out their event calendar to explore occasions anywhere from drawing classes, free yoga classes, live music, and other art installations.

If the Art Lab is too broad for you, the city of Fort Collins provides opportunities for skilled artists to participate in community involvement through Art in Public Places. The city organizes projects for artists around Old Town and elsewhere in Fort Collins to decorate the city with beautiful colors. The most recent opportunities the city is promoting includes Paint a Piano and also a program for children aged 3–18 to submit their designs as a chance to decorate the local sidewalks.

3. The Senior Center

Painting murals and decorations for the city may be intimidating if you’re a newbie artist or have no artistic talent whatsoever. The good news is: the city of Fort Collins accommodates for you too! The Senior Center holds affordable art classes for people of all ages. Learn how to paint Chinese style, draw portraits, paint like Bob Ross, cast jewelry like a pro, and even get involved in the Spring Artisan Market. 4. Global Village Museum of Arts and Cultures

More interested in simply viewing beautiful art rather than creating it? The Global Village Museum of Arts and Cultures has four different galleries to feast your eyes upon unique work that puts an emphasis on international folk art. This museum celebrates international art and informs the public about cultures across the world through visual exhibitions at a ridiculously inexpensive price.

5. The Center for Fine Art Photography

If these events don’t quite tickle the fancy of those photographers out there, Fort Collins has a special place for you as well. The Center for Fine Art Photography values photographers of all ages and styles by displaying photographic exhibitions and facilitating education opportunities for all photographers.
