There is a surprising amount of diversity and culture inside the city of Fort Collins if you know where to look. Here are five ways to travel the world all without leaving city limits.

International Night at the Library

Hosted by the Fort Collins International Center, this program gives you a chance to experience a new culture every month and even share your own adventures abroad. It invites both students and community members to share their experiences in other countries or their native countries. There is a new presentation every month presented at both the Old Town Library and Front Range Community College Campus. The program is free to the public and anyone is welcome to attend.

Global Village Museum of Arts and Culture

The Global Village Museum houses exhibits of art and artifacts from cultures around the world along with informational lectures for each exhibit from experts on the culture. Some of their current exhibits include a showcase focused on art and culture from Central America, a gallery of photos illustrating the history of the Panama Canal, and an art gallery featuring art and artifacts from various cultures in Africa, Asia, and Oceania. The museum is located on the corner of Mountain Avenue and Mason Street in Fort Collins.

International Friends Program

This is another program from the Fort Collins International Center where members of the local community are paired with an international student to meet monthly for activities and events. It’s the perfect way to both exchange cultures and make a new friend. Families, couples, and individuals are welcome to sign up for the program on their website and befriend an international student.

Gregory Allicar Museum of Art

Within the Gregory Allicar Museum of Art lies yet another opportunity to discover other cultures with one of their permanent collections showcasing African art. The exhibit includes art from over fifty African countries and countless different cultures. For this fall season, the museum is also featuring an international poster exhibition with designs from poster artists around the world. The museum is located in the University Center for the Arts on the southeast side CSU’s campus.

World Unity Fair

The World Unity Fair is an annual event that celebrates diversity within the CSU community and is the best way to explore multiple cultures all at once. The fair is comprised of an international bazaar, a talent show and food and cultural booths. Multiple booths are set up at the fair, each representing a different country and with different activities. The next fair will occur on March 1, 2020 at the Lory Student Center.
