5 Hit Broadway Shows You Can See in Fort Collins This Season.

Living in Fort Collins can be challenging at times for theatre goers. With Denver theatre being so far away and tickets being highly priced, the hour and a half drive seems almost not worth it to see your favorite shows. But, there is hope for those of us living in Fort Collins as the local theatre companies release their upcoming shows. With these shows coming to Fort Collins this season, we can all satisfy our inner theatre nerd.

  1. Something Rotten! (Lincoln Center)

Set in 1595, Something Rotten tells the story of two brothers in their attempt to make it in the theatre world. In competition with William Shakespeare, the two brothers end up writing the worlds first musical. So if you love William Shakespeare and would enjoy watching him brag about himself for two hours and 20 minutes, then this is the musical for you. Nominated for 10 Tony Awards and a Grammy, this hilarious musical will run at the Lincoln Center from March 28th through the 30th.

2. Chicago (Lincoln Center)

Set in the roaring 20's in Chicago, the story follows two women serving time in Crook County Jail after murdering their husbands. Filled with drama, girl power and a bunch of women singing about killing their husbands, Chicago is one of the most entertaining shows out there. Holding the record for the longest running revival of a musical on Broadway, Chicago has received a total of 18 Tony Award Nominations. It will run at the Lincoln Center from April 18th to the 20th.

3. Avenue Q (Open Stage Theatre & Company)

Ever wanted to see a musical performed by puppets? Then you need to see Avenue Q. The tony award winning musical follows a recent college grad or um… puppet and his move to New York into an apartment on Avenue Q. Ironically not recommended for children, this adult musical will run at the Open Stage Theatre Company from March 30th to April 27th.

4. My Fair Lady (Midtown Arts Center)

Based on Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw, My Fair Lady follows Eliza Doolittle and her challenges in taking speech lessons. Setting records in the 1950s for Broadway’s longest running musical at that time, the simple and sweet musical will channel your inner Edwardian London lover. The show will run at the Midtown Arts Center from March 21st through May 26th.

5. Matilda (Midtown Arts Center)

Based on Ronald Dahl’s beloved children’s novel, Matilda tells the story of 5-year-old Matilda who has the power of telekinesis. With those powers she is able to take on challenges presented to her by her family and evil school teachers. The tony award winning musical will run from June 7 through August 11th.
