Five Under-Reviewed Local Faves in Fort Collins That Deserve More Love

FoCo is filled with restaurants, bars, and “quick-bite” locations, but some of our most loved spots as locals aren’t very appreciated online when it comes to reviews. Here are just a few…

Cosmo’s Pizza: If you’ve ever partied a little too hard in Fort Collins and needed food late at night, chances are you’ve had a slice of Cosmos Pizza. Not only are they open until 2:30 am every day, but they also sell pizza by the slice for intoxicated walk-in convenience. However, if you’re like me and don’t like to leave the house — or couch for that matter — to get your pizza fix, they also have free-delivery to suit your lazy needs. Also, did I mention they have pizza with cream cheese on it? and spicy ranch to dip it in? Seriously, if you live under a rock and haven’t had Cosmos — try it out. After you’ve died and gone to heaven — throw them a review — because they really don’t get enough love for all that they do.

Thai Pepper: This quaint, little spot is arguably the best place to get Thai food in Fort Collins. It offers a calm, friendly atmosphere, and authentic Thai cuisine, that — unlike some other restaurants in Foco — doesn’t taste like its been sitting under a heat lamp all day. Also, it’s located off of Laurel and College, so it’s a great place to grab a bite before hitting the bars in Old Town, or if you’re meeting a Tinder date for the first time and need a populated place in case they’re super creepy. Whatever the case may be, Thai Pepper’s online presence doesn’t do this great restaurant justice for us locals.

DP Dough: If you didn’t get Cosmos after a night partying in Fort Collins, then you probably got DP Dough. They are also open super late and provide delivery if need be, except instead of pizza, they offer just about every kind of calzone you could possibly think of. So if you’re not feelin’ a slice, go get a “zone” from DP Dough like oodles of us have before. Because, why wouldn’t you love a pocket of dough filled with cheese, meat and other delicious, goodness? So unappreciated man…

Sammy’s Breakfast Bar: Ok, five words — green eggs and ham, baby! If you live in FoCo and haven’t been to Sammy’s Breakfast Bar, shame on you! This place is a local treasure! It’s a Dr. Seuss theme cafe and the food is, indeed, Seuss-licious. They promise a “kid-friendly” experience for the whole family to enjoy, but if I’m honest with myself, I definitely had more fun than any kid in there. Especially with the help of one of their breakfast margs or homemade bloody mary’s. The nostalgia alone makes this place worthy of more reviews. So go get your Seuss on already!

Tom + Chee: Ahh, grilled cheese and tomato soup heals the soul. This perfect, classic combo gets even better at Tom + Chee, located on the outer edge of Fort Collins off of Harmony. It’s definitely the place to go if you’re hungover and need enhanced, comfort food. They even have a grilled cheese made with a glazed donut. Yes, a freaking donut!! “Don’t knock it till you’ve tried it,” because it’s even better than you think. The donut is cut in half and flipped, so all of the warm, melty glaze is in the center — definitely not the grilled cheese you’re used to. Maybe that’s why this place doesn’t get more reviews. “Haters gonna hate.”
