College students are constantly worrying about classes and grades. They frantically run to caffeine, or even greasy foods in order to cope with the demanding life that is college. Students should consider listening to music in order to relax. The next time college students are worried about school or life in general, they should attend a concert in Old Town, or sit down with a pair of headphones and listen to their favorite band. The human brain is astounding. The mind reacts differently to different sounds. People are able to perceive as well as react to music in different ways. Music can also enhance people’s creativity. Music can help improve peoples’ fine motor skills as well as auditory abilities. It also helps with nonverbal as well as vocabulary skills. Studies show that people do better with analyzing information if they know how to play an instrument than people who don’t. If college students are looking for a more hands on way to feel happier and more confident, taking up a musical instrument will help with stress as well as motor skills and nonverbal skills.

College can be stressful, but it should be the time of an adolescent’s life. Students should definitely listen to music or even learn an instrument in order to become happier, more relaxed and even more skilled individuals. Music is a way to express and relate to others. It can bring out some of the happiest and most enthusiastic emotions as well as bring people together. A stressful day calls for the medicine of music.
