It’s 1 am and you find yourself hopping in the nearest Ram Ride or taxi. The next decision you need to make is the most important one of the night, except for deciding to get a ride home of course. You need to get a slice of pizza, but don’t know what direction to tell the driver to head.

The Pizza here is like no other, from New York style to Mountain High Pies to Mac ‘n Cheese and lasagna topped “pizza”. For the best slice in Fort Collins you first have to decide which part of town you prefer to indulge in. Where would you go, Campus West or Old Town? Well luckily for you, there is finally an answer to which part of Fort Collins has the tastiest and most rewarding pizza experiences. After conducting three and a half years of research and a week long crash course, I have the answer to all of your wildest pizza dreams.

And the winner is… Old Town!

If you’re not only looking for the most diverse and delicious pizza toppings but also for an authentic pizzeria atmosphere, Old Town is the place to satisfy your needs. While price will always vary depending on the type of pizza and between restaurants, Old Town does tend to have the pricier options for specialty slices. With that said, don’t let it stop you from enjoying some of the most impressive pizza options in the town. Slyce Pizza is one of many pizzeria’s in Old Town that offer every pizza topping you could dream of, and more.

While Slyce Pizza had some of the most unusual toppings I have ever seen, I had to stick with a classic and chow down on the bacon and BBQ chicken. The most delicious looking pizza’s and the most highly spoken about by the employees were the same. Lasagna, pēna pasta, and mac ‘n cheese were among the fan favorites according to the employees. Any place that thinks to put mac ‘n cheese on top of a pizza has completely won my love and affection for the future.

In Old Town, Slyce is among a plethora of authentic pizzerias that serve the most delicious and rewarding pizza outings that a local could ask for. Included on the list is Uncle’s Pizzeria, Cozzola’s Pizza, Beau Jo’s Pizza, and the classic Old Chicago Pizza and Taproom. All of these places out preform the Campus West selection of pizza options with ease.

The Tweeners

Laurel street is a grey area in between Old Town and Campus West that hides some decent pizza options. The top dog on the street has to be the made famous by Food Network pizzeria, Pizza Casbah. With perfectly melted cream cheese pizza topping and some of the best chicken wing sauces, Casbah has delicious options for your pizza cravings. Among the other tweeners we can find Celestino’s Pizza which serves a terrific New York style pizza that can hang with the best of them.

West of the best

The pizza options West of campus may indeed win over the hearts of young and inexperienced food lovers, but once you put in the time and dedication as I have, it is easy to see the best pizza is in Old Town. Campus West offers some unique options that are quickly out performed by authentic pizzeria atmospheres that are found to the North. The list of the best and most unique pizza places West of campus has to start with Krazy Karl’s. Offering some seriously garlic loaded crust, Krazy karl’s has some delicious pizza options including the delicious cream cheese toppings and the famous garlic knots. The atmosphere here is a winner even though it isn’t your ideal pizzeria. Having a tremendous amount of beer on tap and a massive bar styled seating area, it’s a great place for nights out with friends.

Another pizza hot spot just West of the best is Cosmos Pizza. All you really need to know about Cosmos is spicy ranch dipping sauce. The famous sauce and the fact that after midnight you can’t expect less than a drunk fest of lines out the door. Mama Roni’s Pizza on the other hand, has to be involved in the discussion purely for the garlic knots and the fact that you cant find a better pizza roll-up in Fort Collins.

Before you make your next important decision of where to get that pizza from, you better weigh your options. As long as you follow your nose North to Old Town, you and your stomach will not regret this pizza outing… unlike the last time you ate at Cosmos.
