Spur, Texas became a hot spot for people seeking to build their first tiny house after the city officially designated itself as a tiny house friendly town in 2014. According to resident Benjamin Garcia, now anywhere from 5 to 6 people come through Spur every week looking to start construction.

Garcia has now been living in his tiny home for more than six weeks, and helps newcomers to the area find city lots to start building. In Spur, a person wishing to build a tiny house only has to buy a small city lot to put their house on, which makes them stand out from more traditional neighboring homes. Tiny houses don’t have to be uncomfortable — In fact, Garcia’s tiny house still has room for a full desk setup and an inlaid bed, to save more space. His tiny house is less than 500 sq ft in size, but still provides more than enough room to live in. (Photo Credit: Benjamin Garcia)
