Renowned for it’s diversity and quality of food, Fort Collins attracts people from all over to experience the savory dining. Whether it be travelers, students, or residents, most locals know of every pizza joint in town as if it were the back of their hand. The west side of Fort Collins know as Campus West has the reputation for the best and most diverse selection of places to eat within a half-mile radius.

Campus West is well known among students for being home to the two most popular pizza businesses in town, Krazy Karl’s and Cosmo’s.

1.) Krazy Karl’s Pizza is well known for having the strangest pizza topping combinations in Fort Collins, with Jalapeno Popper pizza to Thai pizza. But the strangest combination that stands out the most is their Mile High pizza that has a ranch base with chicken tenders, waffle fries, bacon and green chilies. The only thing missing from this overwhelming and odd combination would be the onion rings.

2.) Despite that being the most bizarre specialty pizza on Krazy Karl’s menu with an overwhelming variety of toppings. The employees cringed when mentioning a combination that struck them as weird. A pizza made of three toppings; artichokes, pickles and cream cheese was by far the strangest pizza order the business has received.

3.) Cosmo’s Pizza may not be known for having the craziest pizza toppings compared to Krazy Karl’s just down the same street, but it remains a favorite among the students and locals. A popular combination is a Hawaiian pizza with cream cheese and jalapenos. This combination makes the list because Hawaiian pizzas are commonly known to be mild and flavorful and not to possess any spice that a jalapeno provides.

4.) The weird trend topping seems to be anything with artichokes. The staff of Cosmo’s Pizza have an interesting story with a regular customer who orders the same pizza every time with artichoke, spinach and banana peppers.

5.) The final and strangest pizza combination on the list doesn’t just make one singular list for being bizarre, but also makes the list of the most unsatisfying pizza toppings. According to workers at both Krazy Karl’s and Cosmo’s Pizza, and myself, with a roommate who says he loves to include anchovies on his pizza. Any pizza with anchovies for a topping immediately makes it bizarre.

Although these bizarre combinations are found in Campus West, anyone is free to make these combinations at home or ordering them. There’s countless amounts of pizza combinations out there and there are bound to be several bizarre combinations to be discovered like a macaroni and cheese pizza.
