Old Town Fort Collins has numerous options when it comes to finding a quality burger. However, some are simply better than the rest. This listicle aims to provide the reader with my top five burger joints in old town, to ensure the best overall burger experience for anyone living in our great community.

5. Five Guys Burgers and Fries- 1335 W Elizabeth Street, Fort Collins, CO

Five Guys comes in at number five on the list. This is a very popular burger joint in town and has a great location, especially for the college students because it is close to campus. From my personal experience, they have great customer service and produce a solid burger. However, they do lack in some key areas which is why it is not ranked higher on the list. They cook their burgers well done every time, so people that like juicy burgers will not be satisfied with their burger. They also are fairly expensive for fast food even though their burgers are pretty standard and do not provide anything special for the customer. In addition to the burger however, they do have fantastic fries and milkshakes. On the other hand, this does come at a fairly steep price for what the consumer is receiving.

4. The Mayor of Old Town- 632 South Mason Street, Fort Collins, CO

The Mayor of Old Town is kind of a well kept secret in Fort Collins. Why is that? It simply does not receive the hype that a lot of the other restaurants listed here do. They have a good location and I think they can really expand their reach in the Old Town community. Personally, I have always received quality service and they are friendly. Additionally, they have great options for toppings on the burgers and the mushrooms are delicious. The overall product is very tasteful. This is why I put them ahead of Five Guys on this list. They do a little extra beyond just a typical burger and basic veggies. They do a good job of adding their own flavor to it, but I think they could do more to really spice it up and create something special.

3. Austins American Grill- 100 West Mountain Avenue

Austins American Grill sits in the heart of Old Town. It is a fancier place that is not dedicated to solely burgers, but they do provide a very quality product. The meals also come at a good size, so it is easy to feel satisfied after devouring a burger from Austins. The real reason this is on here however is the price. Check out the link above to see what specials they offer. It is a great place to take a date when you are trying to bring them to a somewhat fancier place that will not break the bank, especially with the burger special on Mondays. The only downside to Austins is the service is sometimes iffy. They take a decent amount of time to prepare the food, but the consumer will receive a very quality burger. For the most part, Austins has been a very positive experience and provides delicious burgers.

2. Stuft Burger Bar: 210 South College Avenue

Stuft is a unique experience. If this listicle was based solely on the patty itself, Stuft would probably not crack the top five. However, this listicle is about the entirety of the burger joint, and this is where stuft blows other places out of the water. Their creativity is refreshing and delightfully tasteful. I have personally tried the doughnut burger with a milkshake, and it was a delicious experience I will never forget. Stuft also has other creative burgers such as the hangover burger or an option to create your own burger. The fries here are also very good along with fantastic milkshakes. Overall, Stuft is a mastermind at creating burgers and entrees no one else offers, all while providing fairly quick and friendly service. They do go on waits a lot, so make sure to get their before the rush.

  1. Big Al’s Burgers and Dogs- 140 West Mountain Avenue, Fort Collins, CO

Big Al’s is hands down the best burger joint Old Town has to offer. They have extremely friendly service, the food comes out quick, and it is very affordable. The portions for a meal are also very big, so it is good bang for your buck. They also cater to breakfast goers as well, by opening up at 10. I find this very unique for a burger place. The absolute best burger they offer and that Old Town has to offer is the 60/40 burger. The patty is 60 percent beef and 40 percent bacon and comes with numerous toppings. It is a fantastic product that does not compare to anything I have ever tasted previously. Other then the burger, Big Al’s offers some other unique products as well. Are you a big cheese fan? If so, The truffle fries are always fresh and delicious and one of my personal favorites. They are smothered in Parmesan cheese and are a perfect compliment to the meal overall.

Now that you all have my top five burger joints in Old Town, I want you to let me know what you think. Check out all the ones I listed or check out ones I have not. Maybe there is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered.
