Notoriously labeled “the most important meal of the day,” breakfast can vary around the world. Whether it’s called “brekky” down under in Australia or classic “breakfast” in the States, when made into a restaurant it typically finds success.

What is the breakfast place in Fort Collins?

Having the best pancakes in town is no longer the measure of breakfast. In the new age of Fort Collins restaurants, each must have its own speciality to establish its strong roots.

The Silver Grill Cafe has become the leader of this trend.

Its trademark is not a traditional pancake; Instead they are known for having the best GIANT cinnamon rolls in Fort Collins.

Although it is a breakfast eatery, they essentially have replaced pancakes with cinnamon rolls on their menu. There are a variety of options composed of cinnamon rolls which include French Toast cinnamon rolls. The list can be shortened to: Cinnamon Roll Ice Cream, Cinnamon Roll Toast Sundae, Cinnamon Roll Toast and as aforementioned the French Toast Cinnamon Rolls.

The history of their trademark can be rooted back to 1986 when Russ Hamilton came out of retirement to begin making what would soon become the talk of the town.

Available only after 11:00am, at the end of their menu, there is a category titled “Noon Time Dinner.” In this section you can find your hearty dinner options that is composed of a steak dinner and similar items.

But in this new age of breakfast, it is not enough to be a master of one, you must now be a jack of all plus a master of one. Interiors highly matter, however the atmosphere alone does not keep customers coming back. The online menu shows 89 breakfast items that are available. Out of those 89, 17 include some variation of cinnamon rolls.

That’s why Trip Advisor ranks The Silver Grill Cafe as #2 out of 426 restaurants in Fort Collins, Colorado. Out of breakfast restaurants, to no surprise, they are leading the pack at #1 out of 68.

Interiors highly matter, however the atmosphere alone does not keep customers coming back. The food being served coupled with the atmosphere make for a successful restaurant in modern day. Now don’t get me wrong, the atmosphere does matter. That brings me to Snooze, one of Silver Grill’s biggest competitors. Snooze does an excellent job with their interior design along with the atmosphere that is created.

And Snooze’s trademark is without a doubt its pancakes. Not simply the best plain pancakes but the ingredients and toppings that compose their niche.

In the foreground you can see the “OMG! French Toast” and in the foreground is that peanut butter pancake (it’s 10x better than it sounds). Pancakes here are not your average size. They are about the size of a large plate. Specifically the peanut butter pancake, the chocolate mask on top makes it what it is. It’s also sprinkled with powdered sugar to add to the sweetness and richness.

Snooze isn’t known for one particular item; However, their wide variety of menu options, lengthy list of pancake options and the atmosphere inside make them who they are.

This is a popular breakfast spot in Old Town; Primarily on the weekends you can expect a long wait which can vary from 10 minutes to up to an hour.

As long as you are looking for a hearty breakfast eatery with a niche, Silver Grill Cafe and Snooze will adequately represent the new age of breakfast restaurants... both menu options and atmosphere.

Hoping that you have come to your own conclusion of which to try next, I can now tell you that Snooze is a personal favorite of mine. Try a flight of pancakes and you just might agree!
