Fort Collins is a growing town in many regards. The city itself has grown immensely in population which has in turn grown the youth population around Fort Collins. The influx of new youth in the city has also grown the popularity among local youth sports, particularly basketball. With new leagues and opportunities to play popping up everywhere, these are the best five options for your children to play basketball in Fort Collins.

City of Fort Collins Basketball League. With games played at several different locations, this is Fort Collin’s best option for youth basketball. Run and operated by the city of Fort Collins, this basketball league offers several different opportunities to involve children in the game. With differentiating skill levels, age, location and interest there are choices for every child looking to play basketball. Their games are held primarily at the Fort Collins senior center, as well as other locations around Fort Collins.

I9 Youth Basketball. i9 Sports is a national company that gives children in different cities around the United States the opportunity to participate at a less expensive rate than other youth programs. i9 basketball is held in several different locations around Fort Collins, but primarily housed at Rolland Moore Park. This option does not offer as many different opportunities for children to participate in different leagues, but the lower price for participation offers a good alternative from the City of Fort Collins league.

Nikko Medved Youth Basketball Camp. Created by the CSU Athletic department, this basketball camp offers youth members of the Fort Collins community an opportunity to learn and play basketball with the CSU basketball team. These youth camps are offered to local area Fort Collins children in elementary, middle and high school. A separate entity from CSU these camps offer both team and individual options for players who get to learn from the most advanced and talented basketball minds and players in Fort Collins. Housed at Moby Arena, this camp is not for CSU students or members, but rather for the people of Fort Collins.

Rocky Mountain Fever Competitive Team. For basketball players in the Fort Collins area that are more advanced and skilled at the game, this is a perfect option. The Rocky Mountain Fever are the Fort Collins club AAU teams that play in games against teams from around the state as well as around the country in national tournaments. With tryouts and the opportunity to be cut from the team, the Rocky Mountain Fever is not for children who are just starting out in the game of basketball. With year round options the Rocky Mountain Fever are the best option for competitive youth players in Fort Collins. They are located at Drake and Shields and hold their practices at different venues around the city.

Colorado Skyhawks. This league and camp is run through the recreation center located in downtown Fort Collins. These leagues are the least competitive and more geared toward those just beginning to play basketball. The Skyhawks camps are hosted at the North Side Aztlan Community Center in Old Town. These are the least in depth least intensive basketball camps and are perfect for those who have younger kids or those just starting out in the sport.

These are the best five opportunities for your children to play sports in the Fort Collins area. Offering multiple options for players of different skill level, age, and interest are able to find the right league for them as they begin their journey through the world of basketball.
