Episode 074: Remembering David Berman
In Episode 074 we are joined by two of our close friends, PJ Rudolph (@axillapt3) and Steven Hyden (@Steven_Hyden) to share our thoughts on the life and music of David Berman. David passed away on August 7 at the age of 52.
He formed the Silver Jews in 1989 along with Stephen Malkmus and Bob Nastanovich, and the band went on to feature a number of line-up changes throughout the next 15 years including William Tyler, Bonnie “Prince” Billy, and his former wife, Cassie Berman, along with 20+ other musicians. Berman dissolved the band in 2009 following their sixth album, “Lookout Mountain, Lookout Sea.” In 2019, Berman formed the group Purple Mountains and released their self-titled debut in July. The band was scheduled to kick off a tour on Saturday, August 10.
