Episode 076: Vancouver Tweezer

Brian R Brinkman
Beyond The Pond

--

In Episode 076 we turn our focus northwards, highlighting an electric version of Tweezer from Vancouver, BC on September 9, 1999. A twenty-minute monster that begins in near silence before exploding into a wild Trey-led peak that feels never-ending until it fades into a two-minute ambient bliss jam. Emblematic of the shoegaze jams that dotted the year, this is an excellent example of the style the band employed at the end of the century.

Songs featured in this episode are:

LCD Soundsystem: “Dance Yrself Clean”

Major Stars: “I Don’t Believe”

The Tragically Hip: “Courage,” “Grace, Too,” “Bobcaygeon”

In addition, we discuss two new 2019 records we highly recommend: De Lorians: “De Lorians” and RIDE: “This Is Not A Safe Place”
