An Oasis of Civility
In a world of hate
Many say the world is going to hell in a handbasket. The Russian president is trying to annihilate the Ukrainians. India and Pakistan are fighting over Kashmir. Israel fighting in Gaza. Mexico with the drug cartels. Ethiopia is in a civil war, as is Somalia, Syria, Afghanistan, Haiti, Sudan, Yemen, Central African Republic, Congo, Mali, Myanmar, and Nigeria.
And the United States isn’t making any foreign friends with confiscatory tariffs imposed on goods shipped from there to here and previously friendly nations are retaliating with tariffs on goods sent from here to there.
It’s a mess!
The Oasis
There’s one place that appears to be bucking this unattractive, violent, faze in current national relationships.
It’s on the Marple Little League field
Please, allow me to explain:
I’ve been blessed with being associated with the Marple Little League for two generations. My two sons played some 30 years ago, and my grandson is playing now.
The Past and the Present
In the past, the time for which it seems people wax longingly to repeat was different — less civil; although folks like to recall “the good old days!”
