The NHL Commissioner Is Considering Post-Game Duels to Replace the Constant Fighting on Ice
This might be one way to deal with the recent tension between the two countries
America and Canada had three fights in the first nine seconds of their recent 4 Nations Face-Off hockey game. That might actually be a record.
While the NHL has never been shy about fights on the ice, though not choreographed like the WWE, they’re nonetheless graceful and entertaining, considering it’s all done while wearing skates and heavy padding.
But the constant pairing off, posturing and awkward punching are adding precious time to every game and fans are growing weary of them. Especially when they’re broken up before there’s a clear winner.
Thus, the NHL is considering implementing after-game duels to replace the on-ice fisticuffs.
The commissioner is keen on shortening game times, keeping needless fighting to a minimum while adding more advertising revenue per game to cover rising team salaries and costs for the new electric self-driving Zamboni machines on order from Tesla.
