Filmmaker Bo Svenson’s 2022 Screenplay Awards Totaled 23
PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. — Writer, actor and director Bo Svenson won 23 international screenwriting awards in 2022 for his screenplays “The Red Cloth” and “Diddleville, USA.”
“The Red Cloth” is largely based on recently discovered historical data and the 1961 findings of a UCLA research team. Svenson’s screenplay depicts Norse women and men and their devout Muslim navigator Meshaal. In 966 A.D., they fled religious persecution in modern-day Norway and arrived in North America 500 years before Columbus did. The Norse people experienced disastrous interactions with Indigenous peoples and the birth of the first European child in North America. The boy is blonde and his mother was Jewish and is often referred to in the oral history of Canada’s Indigenous people.
“’The Red Cloth’ will correct history — and will bring honor to Indigenous Peoples and Muslims alike,” according to a press statement.
“The Red Cloth” won the following awards or got honors from the following entities: International World Film Awards, Los Angeles Movie Awards, New York International Screenplay Awards, Cannes International Cinema Festival, Dubai Independent…
