Period pain — it’s horrible. Sometimes debilitating. Exhausting.

According to Women’sHealthConcern.org, a whopping 8 out of 10 women experience period pain at least at one stage in their lives — with 5 to 10% experiencing cramps so bad they can’t function throughout the day.

And here’s why…

During your menstrual period, your uterus contracts to expel its lining. Prostaglandins, hormone-like substances, cause this to happen. The higher the level of your prostaglandins, the more severe your cramps.

If you regularly suffer from severe cramps, it can be the result of more serious problems such as endometriosis, uterine fibroids, cervical stenosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, or adenomyosis.

So Where Can CBD Come Into the Picture?

A growing number of women are turning to various forms of CBD as an alternative to ibuprofen (Advil/Midol), acetaminophen, naproxen, and opioids (for severe cases).
