BFF is on blockchain, and it’s upsides

Social & digital connections is owned by the platform without giving users control and a value stake of the interaction, exchange or authenticity. Our digital contact lists are limited and not interoperated, search fails to deliver relevant people when we need them. The constantly growing number of users and their increasing time spent on social networks create an enormous amount of valuable data, which is captured by centralized databases and sold for advertising revenue. Ethereum Blockchain gives us the flexibility to create a decentralized recommendation based peer-2-peer network that will allow exchange of value over smart contracts and reward for contribution, increasing the network effect and trust based collaborations.

BFF is also far from the whitepaper hype in the crypto world, we believe in working code and shipping in a staged process. Crypto-tokens and blockchain are associated with a reduction in two key costs: the cost of verifying the transaction attributes that can be recorded on a blockchain, and the cost of networking. (Catalini and Gans, 2016). This is the fundamental reason why we want to build BFF on blockchain.

BFF is an open source decentralized peer to peer application with a contacts protocol that will facilitate the right connections via friend recommendations and reward mechanism. There are 3 core features: (1) Questions (2) Answers (3) User Identity, P2P Transactions and Tokenization

Built for real conversation: With 140 characters at your disposal to ask a question to get a recommendation from your friend on who to connect with

You’re a person, not a product: BFF is not a commercial network. No advertising, no data mining, no walled gardens. There is no central authority.

A more humane approach: Learning from failures of other networks, BFF aims to make ethical design choices to combat the misuse of social media.

It will be implemented through the combination technologies on the ethereum virtual machine, truffle framework and smart code of — smart contracts, token distribution, casper, IPFS/Swarm, ENS, and Whisper. It will be a serverless, decentralized architecture, with the content and code on IPFS, and the Ethereum blockchain as the computational engine.

Our belief is that by automating the aggregation of contacts, relevant information and preferences, it will overcome the limits of our cognitive ability, and the community built on top of blockchain technology will be able to source and remunerate talent, ideas and capital at a scale previously unimaginable.
