Temperatures are soaring in the city which has marked the return of our all-time favorite ‘Sugarcane juice’. The juice not only quenches our thirst but also reinvigorates our energy. It is native to Papua New Guinea and now has become a part of the crop production of more than half of the world, including Asia and America. Sugarcane juice is also famous by the name like ‘oosacha ras’ or ‘ganne ka ras’ in Maharashtra.

Sugarcane juice offers many health benefits along with the soothing effects on the body. The health benefits are as follows –

  • Sugarcane juice is a diuretic which means that it helps treat urinary tract infections, kidney stones and ensure proper functioning of the kidneys.
  • Using sugarcane juice on a regular basis has been found to be effective in curing skin problems like acne.
  • Sugarcane Juice is very helpful for the person suffering from jaundice and provides instant recovery from jaundice by maintaining the glucose level in the body.
  • It helps in treating constipation due to its high potassium level.
  • Sugarcane juice is alkaline in nature thus helps in fighting various type of cancer like prostate and breast cancer.
  • Sugarcane contains simple sugars (sucrose) that are easily absorbed by your body. These sugars are utilized to replenish the lost sugar levels in the body.
  • Sugarcane is an extremely rich source of calcium that helps build your skeletal strength, bones and teeth.
  • Sugarcane juice is also a rich source of antioxidants that ward off any viral or bacterial infections.

A word of caution

Do not take more than two glasses of sugarcane juice daily (two only when you have jaundice) as anything in excess can harm your body.
