Excessive sweating or hyperhidrosis is a condition characterised by abnormally increased sweating. People with hyperhidrosis appear to have overactive sweat glands. Maintaining proper hygiene is a real challenge is such situations. Such situations can be combated with proper diet as diet plays a vital role in regulating the sweating process.

Sweating is directly associated with digestive and nervous system.

In such situations choose foods that ease digestion and stress. Below is the list of food that will reduce excessive sweating –

  1. Calcium rich foods

Calcium acts as a temperature regulator, so the more you eat, the less you will sweat. Here are just a few foods that are rich in calcium: low-fat yoghurt, cheddar cheese, cottage cheese, almonds, baked beans, and calcium-fortified milk.

2. Vitamin B

It helps our body carry out critical metabolic functions and inter-nerve communication that keeps things running smoothly. Lack of B vitamin will make your body work harder, it will cause you to sweat more. Here are just a few vitamin B rich foods: whole grains (bread, cereals), proteins (fish, eggs, nuts, meat), and vegetables (avocado, sweet potato, carrots, peas).

3. Bananas

Bananas carry a potassium punch. Potassium is an electrolyte that helps us hydrate. Containing magnesium, vitamin B6 and other nutrients, bananas also promote happiness, calmness and good digestion.

4. Olive oil

The more effort your body takes for digestion, the more you sweat. Olive oil soothes the digestive process. Not only can olive oil help reduce sweat, but it also promotes healthy blood pressure and cholesterol. Olive oil is delicious and can be substituted pretty much anywhere you would normally use vegetable oil.

5. H2O

A no-brainer by any means. Your body must be hydrated properly to avoid excessive sweating as it won’t have to work hard to regulate your body temperature, and therefore, reduce sweat.

Try these simple diet changes if you’re serious about controlling your excessive sweat.
