Solving the Equation of Life

The best way to solve is to have more constants than variables, just like math

In high school, I was good at math but for some of my friends math equations meant night mares, anxiety and stress. A simple approach to solving math equations spared me from the plight of my friends which is, finding the weakest, easiest variable first, solve it and find the next one and repeat the process until I resolved the equation. It becomes easier to solve with every variable turned into a constant value.

In the same way, life also has its constants and variables.

Major Constants:

  1. Parents
  2. Routine
  3. City you live in
  4. Spouse
  5. Job

Major Variables:

  1. Time
  2. Money
  3. Relationships
  4. Health
  5. Business / Career

In school, everyone gets the same test and question paper. Whoever writes the best answers, gets the top grade. However in life, people don’t get the same question paper, everyone does not have the same life equation to solve.

Depending on where you are born, the culture in which you were raised, your social, economical status etc., life hands each of us a question paper with a unique equation which no others can solve except you.

The best way to solve it is to have more constants than variables.

You have to do this to take control of your life. Otherwise you will be controlled by others. Here others can be a person or a lifestyle or an organization.

Choosing a wrong constant, also increases variables and then your life will spiral into misery. For example, choosing the wrong city (or job) to live in and there by not getting enough matches for marriage. Yes such cases do exist…

Often this decision making is tough since it is life changing, time — energy intensive, and stressful too because we cannot predict outcomes.

Even though each of us has a different question paper for life, we all can share a template for general happiness and peace via the constants of life.

In the coming stories we will look at each of these aspects in detail to help you navigate this environment with clarity so that we can get the best outcome for ourselves.

If it worked for me, it can work for others too since some of the things associated in our lives are universal constants and universal variables. So they apply to everyone, but they may not be aware.
