On world poetry day, tried to write something on the experience of living with depression

When did this happen?
The dying of the words
The merging with the herds

The death of a man
The need for sticking to a plan

When did this happen?
The chopping of the wings
The broken, unattended guitar strings

The running dry of oil pastels
The looming, threatening, aging, death and wedding bells

When did this happen?
This existing like a phantom
And the never ending humdrum

When did this happen?
When the clouds had gathered
And everything suggested a subtle threat
When breaths were smothered
And every next moment promised to break in a cold sweat
When it was all lost,
Never to be found again.
