We know this week has been particularly tough for us all, seeing the continued attack on the Black community in the United States, the United Kingdom and beyond: especially in the midst of this global pandemic which is, as the figures show, disproportionately affecting Black people.
We stand in solidarity with the Black Community in the United States, the United Kingdom, and across the world, against racial injustice and violence, another pandemic plaguing our community.
We mourn the recent deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, David McAtee and Belly Mujinga. We must continue to say their names. We must continue to say their names and the names of all those affected by a system which treats Black lives as disposable. We must continue to fight for justice.
As an organisation, in accordance with our mission to “inspire, inform, influence”, we are committed to empowering young black people to enter spaces that weren’t built for people like them, as well as fighting against racial injustices in our schools, universities, and wider communities.
We are sharing a list of resources from our friends at Cambridge ACS, detailing how you can get involved and take action, including where you can donate, what petitions you can sign, and resources you can share to educate people in this time. You can find this resource here.
