Yes possible, you say sarcastically. I have seen this in science fiction movies, eh.

Gesture based technology has been around for some years now, but not been put to useful technology applications of daily life. If you thought internet based payments and mobile based payments brought down costs significantly, this has huge ramifications for the future so why is someone not working on this yet?

Yes I understand that payments requires something more important a TRUST factor, which is why banks control it.

But the small payments/ tipping with virtual currencies could be the right starting point to make that shift in human behavior. It could also be a great way to spend your virtual currency like bitcoin / reward points for buying as you are on the go.

Imagine this, you wanna buy flowers for your girlfriend and you could just gesture (mere flick of the wrist) as you approach the flower shop.

And from a wallet virtual currencies (reward points etc) you have accumulated could pay off, you save crucial time you don’t wanna waste in meeting her.

Startup MEVU has unveiled a prototype wearable Bitcoin wallet that allows users to make payments with gesture. A glimpse into how our future will look like. Ease of making payments without even having to pull out your wallet is almost here.

Apurv Mishra, a boy who started his journey from the city of Bhubaneswar, India had invented “Glabenator” in response to his grandfather’s paralysis.

Advisor (Emerging Technologies) at World Economic Forum & Youngest TED Fellow, is the Founder & CEO — MEVU.

This is what he had to say — “The biggest idea is in fact that through micro transactions, we can bring a new model where community /common property can be maintained with the help of the users visiting the locations and donating micro-cents through air gesture.”

Thalmic Labs also boasts gesture capabilities for its Myo armband, but MEVU’s wallet seems more practical.

MEVU’s product is powered by Coinbase’s wallet API and the Bitcoin wallet still faces some obstacles integrating with mobile platforms, which I am sure will get ironed out.

Yes, I know what you are thinking Apple isn’t too hot on Bitcoin currency yet? MEVU has indicated that they are working on an Android version.

More products seem to be in store from this start-up with their Alive OS http://me.vu/aliveos.

Pre-orders for the wearable MEVU device should start within a month.
