What is the mouth flood in Rev 12?
The Serpent spewed water out of his mouth like a flood
The book of Revelation contains a mix of symbolism and direct descriptions of real events, plus a timeline of how things will unfold in the end times. There is a scripture in Rev 12 that is very interesting:
Now when the dragon saw that he had been cast to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male Child. 14 But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent. 15 So the serpent spewed water out of his mouth like a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood. 16 But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the flood which the dragon had spewed out of his mouth. Rev 12:13–16
The dragon (Satan the Devil) was cast out of heaven and went to persecute the woman (the Church). The church then fled into the wilderness where she is fed and nourished spiritually and physically for a period of time. Satan is enraged and and spewed water out of his mouth like a flood after the church to try and cause her to be swept away. But the earth helped the church and opened up and swallowed the flood. What is this flood of water coming out of the mouth of the Serpent? What is interesting is it comes out…of his mouth. How do we understand this?
