Calling all Born-Again, Evangelical, Traditional Christians

The Problem

Simply put, believers are being challenged on many fronts as we write our stories. This brief post is intended to FIND the remnant of those who still hold traditional Christian values and viewpoints, in order to support one another through “following”, “comments”, and “claps”. The intent is to encourage each other and promote a traditional Christian Worldview on Medium. I realize there currently are good Christian publications that could serve the same purpose. However, to the best of my knowledge, they choose not to filter their writers under any formal Statement of Faith. Similar to a church, an organization that does not have any foundational doctrine can be problematic.

The Idea

To be clear, I am not suggesting anything more than offering each of us a mutual list of those writers and readers who agree with the doctrine statement detailed below.

The Process

I respect your privacy, so the Call To Action is to send me an email or write a private or public comment to this post affirming your agreement. I would ask that you make clear your position by stating that you “fully understand and totally agree with the Statement of Faith” and would like to be included on the list. I have intentionally kept the doctrinal statement simple and focused on ultra-core Christian foundational principles. We can argue about the finer points of our beliefs in Heaven for eternity.

As the list grows, I will send out a blind email to each participant with just member URLs (ex. mine is… medium.com/@jeff_hilles) so we know who we are and can support each other.

Statement of Faith

Beyond these theological points, we are not dogmatic.

Bible — as originally written, is the inspired, infallible, authoritative, and inerrant Word of God and the supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

Trinity — There is one living and true God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

God — created everything, is perfect, and continues to rule. Further, He is omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent.

Jesus Christ — is the eternally preexistent Son, is fully God and was fully man, born of a virgin, and lived a sinless life.

Holy Spirit — lives in every Christian to guide, instruct, and empower the believer.

Resurrection — Everyone will be resurrected from the grave: the saved to eternal life in Heaven, and the lost to eternal damnation in a real and literal Hell.

Evangelism — It is a responsibility, duty, and joy to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to all who will listen.

Salvation — Everyone sins and no one can save themselves. It is only through accepting Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior that one can receive eternal life in Heaven. Salvation is available to anyone who acknowledges in their heart that Jesus Christ died on the cross for their sins, rose bodily from the grave, and asks Him to forgive their sins and save their soul. The difference between a saved and an unsaved person is a God-produced difference.

The Commitment

We need to “build each other up” (1 Thes. 5:11) with “claps”, “comments” and “following”. Please be willing to participate. To do that, we need to know who we are, as traditional Christians, or, what I refer to as Biblical Christians.

The Plea

Finally, if you would, please pass this post or link on to your followers. You can modify the verbiage (but not the Statement of Faith) any way you wish.

You can even take my contact information off the post and publish it as your own, just forward interested folks for a master list.

The reality is that I only have a few people watching my posts. If you don’t pass this on to your “Followers”, most Biblical Christians will never see it and respond.

The Reason

Some may not be aware of the overwhelming number of writers, and subsequent posts attempting, on a daily basis, to undermine the basic tenets of our faith on this platform. I well recognize we should expect that (John 15:18), but it does not mean we should not support each other as we present God’s truth to a lost and dying world (1 Cor. 1:18). PLEASE HELP by adding your name privately to this list and clap, comment, and follow those who write about God’s truth.

1 Peter 3:15 But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,

Romans 1:12 That we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine.

Thank you and may God bless you.

Postscript

A responder to this post asked me to elaborate on the rationale for establishing a group of like-minded Biblical Christians. I put those thoughts down and have listed them here as well.

First, there is so much bad theology out there that does not come out on every post author’s write. This is intended to be an acknowledgement of core theology by the group which, in my view, can be unifying.

Second, if we all agree on the core then we dont have to be so discerning as we skim posts from those on the list. We can clap and follow and even comment quickly ratter than read every word to make sure we are not being positive to an errant theology.

Third, unbelievers can see an increase in positive feedback on true Biblical Christian theology. Given the abuse of the tag “Christianity” this is critical.

Fourth, we can be an encouragement to each other in, what is often, a dark place (Medium).

Fifth, there may be a time when we all want to communicate with each other privately as things get worse in the world around us.

Sixth, I believe there is core theology and non-core theology. For example, some folks are KJV only and that is fine. For me the core is what I have listed in this post that intentionally focuses on salvation and the inerrancy of Scripture. I believe the rest of our individual theologies can be discussed on the other side of the grace, for eternity. So, the list also has the aspect of acknowledging what is of most theological importance, and, may help bridge the gap between us, who have varying theologies on such things as Bible translations, types of emersion, the contemporary existence of sign gifts, etc. I believe we need to stop fighting amongst ourselves but “fight the good fight” of the gospel message to a lost and dying world.
