YOUR ‘QUIET TIME’ IS SPIRITUAL COTTON CANDY
Modern Christianity has turned spiritual warfare into a nursery rhyme. Let’s rip the band-aid off — your devotional life is a JOKE.
That 5-minute devotional app isn’t feeding your spirit — it’s STARVING it. And you know it.
Your typical “warrior’s morning”:
- 30 minutes scrolling Instagram “motivation”
- 15 minutes on YouTube “Bible teachers”
- 3 minutes with God between notifications
- 10 minutes choosing your daily Bible verse wallpaper
- 20 minutes listening to watered-down preaching podcasts
Then you hit your knees at night wondering why demons are laughing at your prayers.
HISTORICAL WARFARE CHECK:
George Mueller spent 4 HOURS daily in prayer and Scripture before touching his day’s work. You can’t spare 15 minutes without checking your phone.
John Wesley hit his knees at 4AM DAILY, rain or shine, sick or healthy. You hit the snooze button 6 times and call it “self-care.”
Charles Spurgeon was wrestling with God before sunrise, fighting spiritual battles while others slept. You’re wrestling with Twitter before breakfast.
“But brother, times have changed!”
Have they?
Let’s talk about your spiritual forefathers:
- Plowed fields by hand in brutal conditions
- Walked miles to church through all weather
- Worked 14-hour days without complaint
- Raised 8+ children without modern conveniences
- Still found time to WRESTLE WITH GOD daily
But you’re “too busy” because of your 9–5 air-conditioned job and Netflix schedule?
HARSH REALITY CHECK:
Your great-grandfather:
- No electricity
- No running water
- No car
- No modern conveniences
Yet …
- Still read his Bible by candlelight
- Still prayed through the night
- Still raised godly families
- Still shook heaven with his prayers
What have you and I got ?
- Study apps at your fingertips
- Audio Bibles in your pocket
- Digital concordances on demand
- Christian podcasts 24/7
- Still can’t find time for God
THE DEVIL DOESN’T FEAR:
- Your devotional app notifications
- Your Bible verse lockscreen
- Your Christian Instagram feed
- Your worship playlist on repeat
- Your occasional prayer journal entry
The devil fears:
- Your calloused knees from warfare
- Your tear-stained Bibles from wrestling
- Your pre-dawn prayers that shake heaven
- Spiritual warriors who mean business
- Men who won’t back down from battle
WARFARE FACT:
While you’re hitting snooze, demons are doing pushups.
While you’re checking social media, the enemy is studying your weakness.
While you’re “finding yourself,” hell is finding targets.
BATTLE PLAN FOR WEAKLINGS LIKE ME:
1. Delete your devotional app tonight
2. Buy an alarm clock (get your phone out of the bedroom)
3. Put your Bible where your phone used to be
4. Set that alarm for 5AM
5. Start fighting like a man
“But I’m not a morning person!”
Neither was Jacob — but he wrestled until daybreak and wouldn’t let go.
Neither was David — but he rose at midnight to pray when kings go to war.
Stop making excuses.
Start making war.
Heaven’s warriors aren’t built on Instagram inspiration.
Your devotional life isn’t a hobby.
It’s not a habit to develop.
It’s not a New Year’s resolution.
It’s combat training for eternal warfare.
Time to choose:
Cotton candy Christianity or Biblical warfare?
Comfortable devotions or spiritual combat?
Religious routine or warrior’s discipline?
The battlefield is your bedroom floor at 4AM.
The weapon is that black Book you’ve been ignoring.
The enemy is waiting to see if you’re serious.
Are you ready for war?
