He’s Felix, the coolest member of the BidAway family.
This Maneki Neko has become the first mascot of the BidAway family. What began as a joke among colleagues has come true and, officially, Felix the cat is already our official mascot.
“What do you have there?”
That’s the classic question everyone asks us when they visit our offices. -“Our mascot Felix, the good-luck cat”- we respond. With that good mood begin most of the meetings and visits at BidAway.
Origin of the Maneki Neko
The Maneki Neko ( 招き猫) belongs to the Japanese culture and is also known as the “good-luck cat” or “the cat of fortune”. Unlike what many think, the Maneki-nekos are not waving at us with their peculiar arm movement, it’s an attention grabbing gesture, a call for good luck and fortune. Mysticisms aside, let’s continue with the story of our beloved mascot.
Why call him Felix?
The idea came up during one of our weekly team breakfasts, fruit of an explosion of uncontrollable creativity. Irony aside, we chose to call him Felix because it’s an international name (as BidAway) meaning “one who considers himself happy or fortunate”. Two present aspects in our company: offering unique and exclusive experiences with celebrities for a good cause. That is, we want to make you happy by giving you the chance of meeting your idols, also bearing in mind the happiness of those who need it most. Which means that, with your participation in our sweepstakes or auctions, you not only choose to fulfill your dreams, but also contribute to fulfill the dreams of those who are not so fortunate. It’s a win-win-win ;)
