Data Disrupt Driving Industry, Society, and You

On Tues, May 5, 7pm, the IE Big Data Club is excited to present Data Disrupt: Industry, Society & You, an event that explores innovative ways that Big Data is disrupting the norm. Keynote of this speaker series is international thought leader, speaker, panelist: Jose Luis Agundez, Head of Big Data & Innovation at Telefonica. Jose Luis focuses on data privacy and the applications of Big Data to society and people, at Telefonica he leads the Dynamic Insights team, which includes Telefonica’s innovative Smart Steps service that provides insights from crowd behavior.

In addition to his role at Telefonica, Jose Luis is on board of the datatransparencylab.org, a community of technologists, researchers, policymakers and industry representatives working to advance online personal data privacy through scientific research and design. You can find some of his thoughts about the issue on the Telefonica Digital Innovation blog, such as this post http://blog.digital.telefonica.com/blog/2014/11/03/data-transparency/ where he discusses the trust issue between businesses and consumers in face of a data-trading economy. His response and thoughts trend around evolution of the current online data brokerage practices towards a more transparent data-trade — one that is more respectful to users. Other posts revolve around trends and advances in the Big Data spaces beyond transparency and data brokering and into more influential insights and data-based decision making, found here: http://blog.digital.telefonica.com/blog/2014/09/10/big-data-applications/

As someone with years of experience in the field, Jose Luis’s key note speech is not one to be missed for those interested in the future of Big Data and even just in the evolution of the way we interact with technology as a whole.

The club looks forward to seeing everyone at the event and encourages attendees to ask any questions and to share their own thoughts.

Leading up to the event, we will share more information on other speakers in the series so keep an eye out! Follow us on Twitter @IEBigdata
