Watch a series… read a series?

I just started watching Netflix’ new original series “House of Cards”, a drama about Washington politics starring Kevin Spacey. The show is also directed by David Fincher (Fight Club, The Social Network).

It’s interesting that Netflix embarked on developing original, exclusive content. But what it really does do is make Netflix something you depend on to watch your favorite shows in addition to other shows and movies. That is a much better value than what it currently does… offer you an easy way to view movies and shows across multiple devices (shows and movies that you are able to see somewhere else however). Netflix is a convenience. They are trying to become a necessity. And “House of Cards” is a good first step.

Something crossed my mind while watching this…

People love watching movies on the go, at home, etc…
People love reading on the mobile devices…

What if they could read a show? An episodic story in written form available on all devices. An evolving story that continues every week. Because a book is finite and a TV series you can only watch.

Anyone would be able to write, specify a release schedule, build a character list, and start writing a story published weekly.

Thoughts? Leave them on HN:
