The Great Resignation is happening. You may find yourself surrounded by colleagues and friends who have switched jobs once, or even twice, during this tumultuous period caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. You might even have switched jobs yourself, or at least be tempted to do the same.

As someone who has been on the side of managing teams and openly communicating with my team members, I would say — know that if the thought of leaving has crossed your mind, your reasoning is just (at least, to yourself, and that’s the most important point). Now that you realized that your current job is a misfit to your needs and wants, you should ask yourself, what should I do next?

Do you understand your “Needs” and “Wants”?

Let’s say that you have already received some job offers, or better still, just starting to look around, here’s a tip to save your time in finding the right job. Write down your list of “needs” and “wants”, and detail the actionables to verify each category with any company. Job hunting is already a hard process, so you should try to quantify each of your data points to make the best decision possible. If you are switching jobs and you face pain points in your current role, you really want to do this to avoid these pain points and ask these potential companies more questions, less you end up switching jobs again in a heartbeat.
