Is it ok to lie on your resume or profile? Why set your current and future “pants” on fire?

I’ve been an interviewer for about 4 years now.

To be more precise, I regularly hire for tech headcount — Backend, Web, QA, etc. And I’m glad to say that misrepresentation, or lying about one’s credentials and capabilities, doesn’t happen as often (or at least not done to ridiculous extents) under my watch.
