We are excited to announce the beta launch of the Dev Center, a new version of our BigCommerce developer documentation.

This new experience combines API and Theme documentation in one place, making it easier to access and discover developer resources.
Our Vision
Your developer feedback is truly at the heart of this change. Over the past year, our Developer Advocates, Product & Engineering teams, and Support staff have heard you loud and clear. Developers building on BigCommerce wanted a better way to get the answers and information they need. We took that feedback, examined what we could do better, and have made changes to repair some of the biggest pain points in the dev docs experience.
Our goal is to create a space that allows you to find the documentation, resources, and tools needed to get started building and get your questions answered quickly. We wanted to make the experience of using our dev docs easier, more streamlined, and more beneficial. And we’re just getting started. The next phases of this project will be to incorporate more community and news elements into the site like a Developer Blog, Community Q&A, Groups, and a feature request site and of course, more content and docs.
What Else Is Changing?
In addition to the consolidation of documentation, you’ll notice that all our developer content is available in search now, allowing you to surface results from across all documentation and resources types. Our page load performance has also improved, helping you get the answers you need faster.
We’ve also added updates to the layout and navigation to provide more contextual awareness and content organization. And last but not least, we’ve added “Try it now” functionality embedded into the API documentation, allowing you to test live HTTP requests directly from the site.
What’s Next?
During this beta phase, the existing, former sites at developer.bigcommerce.com and stencil.bigcommerce.com will remain live. However, we encourage you to use the new Dev Center for your documentation needs and provide feedback to our team.
We’ll be actively updating the new Dev Center based on your input, as well as, new feature documentation from our Product & Engineering teams. Therefore, the Dev Center will be the most up-to-date source of information moving forward.
Have questions or feedback for our team? Fill out a feedback form on the Dev Center, or tweet our Developer Advocate on Twitter, @karen_pwhite. We look forward to hearing from you!
