Welcome to the monthly recap of BigCommerce product news and updates. Each month, we’re sharing all the changes and updates available to merchant’s stores on BigCommerce. Whether you’re an agency partner building and managing an e-commerce site, a freelance developer customizing the BigCommerce storefront, or an app developer wanting to keep on top of natively built features, this your chance to stay in the loop and learn what changes are happening to the BigCommerce platform.

At BigCommerce, February was a time to focus on improving the merchant and shopper experience. We were thrilled to have been able to deliver these updates to you and your clients! If you happened to miss any of the announcements throughout the month, you can see all of the February feature releases and updates below.

BigCommerce Platform Updates, February 2021

  • Checkout.com Beta Testing Opportunity: If you or your clients are interested in offering alternative and local payment methods to increase sales domestically and cross-border, this BETA opportunity is to help with exactly that. Check out the BigCommerce Product Blog to see more information on what’s included in the BETA, who qualifies to join, and how to apply!
  • Updates to BigCommerce SSL Certificate Options: SSL is a major factor in ensuring that shoppers are safe on any site. To provide the best resources for you and your customers, there have been some changes in the options that are available to purchase through the BigCommerce control panel. Be sure to review our Product Blog to see what options have been removed and more information about the options that are available now!
  • Price Range Updates for Out of Stock Variant Products: Price not being considered in the price range listed on the storefront for out-of-stock variants has been an issue for many of our merchants in the past. This is why we’re so excited to have resolved this by releasing a fix in February! To learn how to enable this setting on your store, update out-of-stock variants, bulk edit variants in the control panel, and update pricing via CSV import, check out this article in our Product Blog.
  • Partial SKU now reflected in PDP Price Ranges: This update brings in more transparency to catalog and product detail pages, as a price range will take precedence over the ‘default price’ that was previously set via the control panel. Now shoppers will be able to see the price range upon initial visit of pdp and view the price change when selecting the variants they desire.
  • Additional Language Options for the Control Panel: More language options are now available for the control panel! Store owners and users can now navigate the BigCommerce control panel in Spanish (Mexico), German, Dutch, Portuguese, or Swedish. This update makes it easier to update products, view orders, and review analytics reports for anyone who prefers any of these languages.
  • New Channel is now available: Walmart: BigCommerce has partnered with Walmart! This partnership gives all US-based BigCommerce store owners the opportunity to list & sell products with our new Walmart channel. For steps on how to get started, check out this article on our Product Blog.
  • Customer Account Creation in Checkout: Improving the optimized one-page checkout experience for guest users! This update is to allow guests to create an account directly from checkout without missing a beat or being directed away from the checkout page. To see more information about this feature, why we built this, and how to get started, check out this article from our Product Blog!
