At BigCommerce, July was a month of globalization! Check out all the updates below to read more about localization on the storefront and with the new Abandoned Cart emails, as well as newly added support for alternative payment methods with PayPal and the new Latin America omnichannel.

BigCommerce Platform Updates, July 2021

  • Amazon Multi-Channel Fulfillment Now Available: With Amazon MCF (Multi-Channel Fulfillment), small and medium-sized businesses can now take advantage of a great opportunity to fulfill via Amazon to delight customers and exceed expectations.
  • Sitewide HTTPS Required On All Stores: Sitewide HTTPS is a valuable feature to leverage for improved conversion rates, better site rankings, and an improved customer experience as shoppers see the padlock icon at all times on your storefront. Merchants can enable this via Store Setup > Store Settings > HTTPS in the Control Panel.
  • PayPal Alternative Payment Methods: Merchants can now accept payments from customers around the globe who primarily use their bank accounts, wallets, and local payment methods for transactions, rather than global payment methods such as Visa or Mastercard.
  • Selling on Mercado Libre is now Available: US merchants can apply to sell on Mercado Libre (a leading marketplace in Latin America) as Marketplace sellers. Once approved, merchants will be able to connect their BigCommerce account to a Mercado Libre seller account, helping them sync their product catalog and create listings on Mercado Libre quickly and easily from within the Channel Manager.
  • Introducing Mollie for Payments and more: European merchants focusing on growth in the Benelux market can now offer trusted local payment methods like iDEAL and Bancontact to their shoppers by setting up a single account. Payment methods that are supported by Mollie are iDEAL, Bancontact, Credit Cards, Belfius Pay Button, EPS, Giropay, KBC/CBC, MyBank, Przelewy24, SOFORT, & Paysafecard. This integration also supports Multicurrency, Stored Credit Cards, Recurring Payments via SEPA Direct Debit*, PSD2 Compliant (3DS2) & Language Translation Support.
  • Updates to Abandoned Cart Emails: Abandoned Cart Saver emails now offer the same user experience and localization capabilities as Transactional Emails, along with new features such as previewing email templates from the control panel and sending test emails.
  • Updates to Default Language Settings: Merchants can now either manually select the language used on their storefront, or set their storefront to use the shoppers’ default browser language
