Welcome to a recap of what’s trending in the BigCommerce Developer Community. Every other week, we’ll take a look at the discussions happening in our dev spaces. You’ll see our most popular and insightful conversations, along with questions that could use your expertise or helpful advice.

In the Community this week, we’ve seen conversations about the different ways to manipulate products and how they’re viewed. Community members are talking about how to arrange products in grids on the storefront, showing products without categories selected, and how to add custom products via the Cart API and getting product SEO data with GraphQL!

📣 Announcements

  • BigCommerce for WordPress 4.6.0 is now available. In this release, time zone is now available for import times via Settings > Product Sync. A bug fix was also made to correct the issue where missing template markup on custom template overrides caused a JS error on the page rendering the rest of the page unusable. Learn more in the Developers Changelog.

🗣 Can’t Miss Conversations

Some of our favorite, trending conversations from the BigCommerce Developer Community.

  • Alberto is attempting to hide or remove address fields from the OOTB sign up form. Due to many of the address form fields being required (and that setting not being modifiable), we suggested creating a custom form, utilizing the V3 Customer API. Have you used the Customer API for this purpose or created a different solution? Join the conversation in the Developers Community Group and share your ideas with Alberto.

  • Vít is building a headless site on the NextJS e-commerce starter and experiencing an issue where his Storefront API token is changing every two days. He is currently using Postman to resolve this but is looking for a better long term solution. Have you created a different workaround that they could try? Let us know in the Developer Community Group! 😁
  • Tom is investigating using BigCommerce as a headless solution and wants to hear from other developers who are also going headless. Are you building or exploring a headless implementation? If so, join the conversation and share your feedback and experiences on Twitter.
  • Amit on StackOverflow has been trying to use Docker, however hot reloading isn’t working for them. They believe it is a configuration error and are troubleshooting this now. Are you using Docker? If so, share how you are using config files with Amit in StackOverflow! 🙌
