What’s Trending in the Dev Community?
Welcome to a recap of what’s trending in the BigCommerce Developer Community. Every other week, we’ll take a look at the discussions happening in our dev spaces. You’ll see our most popular and insightful conversations, along with questions that could use your expertise or helpful advice.
In the BigCommerce Developer Community, things have been very busy! We have so many updates and conversations to share with you this week, so let’s get started. New developer documentation, developer blogs, API updates and a new BC4WP version were all released recently. Developers are also talking about our BigDev Bootcamp, custom workflows to improve customer experience on storefronts, and areas of opportunity for partners to capitalize on a trending request from merchants.
📣 Announcements
- Updated Developer Docs: Updates to the Tools and Resources page and the API Docs’ Building Apps section’s Quick Start, Guide, and Build a Next.js Sample App tutorial reflect continuing support for app developers.
- New Developer Docs: We released new documentation about Widget Builder to support and guide you when learning how to use this new feature. Additionally, you can find the blog introducing Widget Builder below.
- New on the Developer Blog: “Introducing Widget Builder” by Max Kiely & “Beta Opportunity: Abandoned Cart Emails API Transactional Email Templates” by Airon White.
- BigCommerce for WordPress V4.21.0 is now available: This update sets “New/Updated Since last Sync” as the default selection in the manual product sync on both the Settings page and the Product Archive in the admin & more. Read all of the details of this release in the Developer Changelog.
- API Update: The Add to Cart URLs example now uses promises to demonstrate using JavaScript to make serial requests to a single endpoint.
- API Update: The Add Consignments to Checkout endpoint now reflects limits to the number of line items a consignment can contain.
- API Update: New webhook events; store/order/transaction/created and store/order/transaction/updated. You can read more about this update and changes to expect in the Developer Changelog.
