Big Dipper Cosmos Validator Interview Series
To help the decentralization of delegation on Cosmos, Forbole have delegated to over 20 validators who have a voting power less than 0.8% at the time of the delegation (list). While we are not a large atoms hodler, we can help in other ways. That’s why we have started this interview series. Forbole has a special position to do this due to our early participation in Cosmos as both a validator and a team behind a Cosmos ecosystem chain.
Some Background
01node is part of 01.capital, and a genesis validator for the next generation Proof of Stake systems, making it easy for people to earn interest on their assets. Forbole has known 01node for a while and decided to delegate to them in 2019 to support their work in the Cosmos community. Claudiu Nae is the founder of 01node.
Graduated with a degree in Computer Science from a Romanian-American University in 2004, Claudiu started his career in IT. He is also a certified Microsoft server administrator, quality manager, and a Certified Information Systems Auditor. It is safe to say, computers have become an important part of Claudiu’s life.
After years working as an IT specialist, Claudiu decided to start his own company with a friend. They founded FiXMYPC, a IT company focusing on network/computer related services. After two/three years, they shifted their service into the web applications area.
Encountering Blockchain and Cosmos
At that time, Claudiu’s friend and partner “dragged” him into the blockchain space. But it was not difficult to convince Claudiu that blockchain has great potential at all. As a matter of fact, Claudiu spent two weeks reading about blockchain and thus determined to devote all his time to it.
Cosmos is the first blockchain project that Claudiu has invested in. Claudiu found Cosmos particularly attractive, as it is tackling the problem that bitcoin network and ethereum network cannot solve — the interchain connection problem.
Claudiu remembers that one time he ran into Ethan and Jae in a bar in Zug back in 2017, according to him, it was the feeling of meeting your heroes in real life.
A trustworthy validator
01node focuses their services on security and usability with a team of experienced blockchain engineers. Operating at almost 100% uptime, they provide their services from two data centers with two racks of physical servers. They have been developing their own set of delegating tools. 01node is also looking at projects such as Iris, Terra, IOV, Solana, Polkadot, Nuchyper. As Claudiu mentioned, all these projects are trying to expand and tacking blockchain problems in their unique ways.
