Time. You can’t hear it, you can’t smell it, you can’t touch it, taste it, or see it.

And yet, time dictates our existence. It is what we use to measure our comings and goings, our responsibilities, even how long we’ve been on the planet. Time is just as much a part of us as any one of our limbs.

And it’s how we use our time that determines the outcome and quality of our lives. Here are 7 insights on time and productivity that can help you lead a more meaningful and fulfilled life.

1. Time is Limited

One who is driven understands that time is limited. They also understand that their sense of well being and self satisfaction is tied to their ability to grow, build, and accomplish, which are all things achieved within the realm of time. Therefore, to the driven person, time is the most valuable resource. Only someone without ambition and appreciation for time is content to waste it.

2. Failure is Synonymous With Giving Up

Continuing to try is the most important thing one can do, above all else. A resolve to continue in spite of failure robs failure of its power and makes it a lesson. A person only truly fails when they give up.

3. Avoid Satisfaction

To become satisfied is to become complaicent, and complaicency spells death for ambition. Be thankful, be proud, but never be satisfied. One who desires to become great must come to terms with the fact that they will always be reaching for greater heights. This is more a blessing than a curse, though, for it shows a persons potential is limiteless and without a ceiling.

4. Stay Thankful

Thankfullness is what will keep an ambitious person grounded and sane. To stay thankful for what you already have while being determined to acquire that which you do not is the key to staying balanced in your pursuits.

5. A Matter of Quality

A person has no control over their quantity of time. We have no idea how long we’re destined to be on this Earth for, or what might happen to us to cut our time short. What we do control is the quality of our time, which we determine by how we spend it. Quantity is a matter of chance, quality is a matter of choice.

6. Energy, Focus, Vision

Ones vision is nothing without the energy to do and the focus to actualize. Ones energy is nothing without the vision to direct and the focus to actualize. Ones focus is nothing without the vision to direct and the energy to do. Cultivate these three forces and you will optimize your time.

7. Weakness into Strength

Become aware of your weakness and determine where you lack. Most of us do not take the time or energy it takes to become aware of our weaknesses. When we don’t realize what they are, we fail to understand them, and when we fail to understand them, they control us. Coming to terms with your short comings is the only way to rectify them and use them in your favor.
