Could We Really Deport 11 Million Undocumented Immigrants?
And how much would it cost? (Here’s a hint: gazillions)
One-third of all potential voters in the U.S. support limiting immigration. About 63 percent of potential Republican voters support Trump’s plan to immediately begin booting out 11 million undocumented immigrants. About 11 percent of potential Democratic voters are also in favor of less immigration, though most of them don’t want to make that happen by stomping on anybody with boots on.
Republicans have shied away from revealing how much such a deportation would cost. Instead, they take every opportunity to malign “illegal aliens.”
“Illegal aliens,” “undocumented immigrants,” “migrants”…. You get to choose what to call these people who have fled from countries where life is barely livable, liberty has been lost, and the pursuit of happiness would be a joke if it were funny.
