“Life is Short. Have an Affair,” is Ashley Madison’s profitable tagline.

This week, I watched a fascinating and well-done Netflix docu-series about the company, “Ashley Madison: Sex, Lies and Scandal.”

Big deal, right? Since the beginning of time people have cheated.

It’s just easier and more efficient with Ashley Madison. They’re experts at matching people with their ideal cheating partner. By age, interests, kinks.

You might have also heard about Ashley Madison because they had one of the largest data breaches in history.

Boo hoo. No one feels sorry for a company that profits off adultery.

Except that they leaked names and addresses and salacious private emails that destroyed families. Including a pastor who took his own life.

And as much as I despise a cheater, the families didn’t deserve to find out publicly that their spouse or father or mother is an unfaithful sack of shit. Or have their personal information posted online for the world to see.

Ashley Madison promised clients complete privacy and near rock solid data security. They also created a huge number of fake profiles of women, claiming in their marketing that women were a big chunk of their client base.

Because if married women are cheating in droves, well then come on, it’s just human nature.

Marketing genius.

Arranged cheating, the company insists, helps fill a void, a missing piece in many marriages. So the spouse can go home to their loved one and feel more fulfilled, and in turn be a better husband, wife, father, mother.

See, cheating is a good thing for marriages at risk of falling apart.

The CEO Noel Biderman swore he never cheated on his wife (he did, many times). His wife sat adoringly in countless interviews…
