Chrome is one of the most powerful and famous browsers in the world. It has a neat interface, is light-weight, and has humongous number of extensions that further enhance its abilities — the main reason for its popularity among the development and testing community.

Here are few of the Chrome Extensions that can be used for testing purpose-

1. Page Ruler (Web UI Testing)

Page Ruler lets your draw out a ruler to any page and displays the width, height and position of it.

2. Grammarly (Content testing)

Grammarly will make sure your messages, documents, and social media posts are clear, mistake-free, and impactful. Adding Grammarly to Chrome means that your spelling and grammar will be vetted on Gmail, Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Tumblr, and nearly everywhere else you write on the web. Once you register your new account, you will start to receive weekly emails with personalized insights and performance stats (one of our most popular new features). Tester can make sure that the content going up on the website does not have any grammatical mistakes that gets left unnoticed, only for a visitor to find out.

3. Firebug Lite for Chrome (Software testing)

Firebug Lite is not a substitute for Firebug, or Chrome Developer Tools. It is a tool to be used in conjunction with these tools. Firebug Lite provides the rich visual representation we are used to see in Firebug when it comes to HTML elements, DOM elements, and Box Model shading. It provides also some cool features like inspecting HTML elemements with your mouse, and live editing CSS properties.

4. Screencastify — Screen Video Recorder (Test Evidence)

Screencastify is the world’s most trusted screen recorder. Our Lite version is free forever, while our Premium version unlocks all features.

5. EditThisCookie (Website Cookie Testing)

Inspired by the lack of a good cookie manager in google chrome I developed this small simple and extremely useful extension, that let’s you perform anything you might actually need to do with cookies.

6. Window Resizer (Emulate different screen sizes)

This extension re-sizes the browser’s window in order to emulate various resolutions. It is particularly useful for web designers and developers by helping them test their layouts on different browser resolutions.
The resolutions list is completely customizable (add/delete/re-order).
You can set the window’s width/height, window’s position, preset icon (phone, tablet, laptop, desktop) and even the option to apply the new dimensions to the entire window or just to the viewport.
The extension also features customizable global key shortcuts, an option to export your settings and import them on another computer and more!

7. Bug Magnet (Exploratory Testing)

Exploratory testing assistant for Chrome. Adds common problematic values and edge cases to the context menu (right-click) for editable elements, so you can keep them handy and access them easily during exploratory testing sessions.

8. Resteasy (API testing)

RestEasy is a tool that is targeted against developers who perform RESTful API calls against third party services. It allows developers a way of being able to debug and analyze an Http request/response. RestEasy is built using Google Chrome’s Extension API framework and includes common technologies such as Html and JavaScript.

9. Site Spider (Security and penetration testing)

Use this extension to spider a website looking for dead links. One can restrict the spidering to a directory, a domain, or any other regular expression. The spider can also follow one link beyond this restriction, allowing one to find broken external links.

10. WAVE Evaluation Tool (Accessibility Tool)

WAVE is a web accessibility evaluation tool developed by WebAIM.org. It provides visual feedback about the accessibility of your web content by injecting icons and indicators into your page. No automated tool can tell you if your page is accessible, but WAVE facilitates human evaluation and educates about accessibility issues. All analysis is done entirely within the Chrome browser allowing secure valuation of intranet, local, password protected, and other sensitive web pages.

11. Google Keep (Productivity Enhancement)

Found a webpage, image, or quote that you want to save for later? With the Google Keep Chrome Extension, easily save the things you care about to Keep and have them synced across all of the platforms that you use — including web, Android, iOS, and Wear. Take notes for additional detail and add labels to quickly categorize your note for later retrieval.
