On Friday, June the 29th, CNBC reported their parent company Comcast was aware of a nationwide outage affecting its internet, voice, & video customers due to a fiber cut at a backbone network.

A twitter user posted the heat map showing the extent of those who were impacted by the outage.

This isn’t the first, nor will it be the last time that Comcast or any other major internet provider has an outage.

This poses the question: Was your business ready?

There are things that can be done when your primary internet connection goes down. Consider these questions:

  • How important is the internet to your business?
  • How much does it cost every hour the internet is down?
  • How does the lack of internet impact productivity?
  • Do you have a redundant internet connection in place?

As businesses continue to rely on the internet more & more — it is important to evaluate your options to properly create a reliable & sustainable technology environment.

It’s very important to educate yourself on what needs to be done to be best prepared for these incidents.
