Hack of Thrones’ judges are consisted of tech heavyweights: Alamanda Shantika (Founder and CEO of Binar Academy), Aswin T. Utomo and Herman Widjaja (Tokopedia’s VPs of Engineering), Jessica Jap (Tokopedia’s Head of Strategic Development), and Rahul Taparia (Tokopedia’s VP of Fintech Business).

Congratulations! HAK is officially named as the winner of Hack of Thrones — the hacking competition conducted by Binar Community and Tokopedia, in collaboration with Proud Media Group. Their app, KYCepat, beats 29 other participants by introducing a distributed peer-to-peer network that uses blockchain principles to solve KYC (Know Your Customer) problems that exist within the fintech industry.

The team members, Hakiem Noersadya, Ahmad, and Khalil Ambiya — HAK, you see? — offers innovative, concrete solution for fintech problems in style. Other than that, the originality of their idea and how the app gives direct, social impact, leads them to march undefeated as the first winner. They use complicated app architecture with different level of maturity. Also, the solidly-structured database with beautiful design and understandable usability, are the key factor of their success.

“I was caught by how they develop this eye-catching app in this short duration, from the preparation, pitch presentation, to the execution. With the help of amazing mentors from Tokopedia, this rare experience is necessary to find Indonesia’s undiscovered, raw gems. These young innovators will be our fundamental pillars to embrace the future,” Alamanda Shantika, founder and CEO Binar Academy, claims.

After the competition, all HAK members will be given IDR 25M prize and the exclusive training with Tokopedia to polish their proficiency in Golang or Swift. They will also get the opportunity to be hired by Tokopedia as well. In the future, they are expected to foster other young innovators by participating as speaker at Binar Connect events in several cities.

“I hope these young lads will continue their innovation in tech industry, hone their skills, and reach the top as Indonesia’s digital innovator,” Alamanda adds, with a big, passionate smile painted on her face.

Meanwhile, our runner ups, Orientaru and apt-get-winner, steal the stage with their respective apps, Kocek and B-smART. Kocek app focuses to help SME owners by giving cashless change for their customers, while B-smART offers offline-to-online solutions through marketing broadcaster platform using Google Maps and beacon concept as receiver and broadcaster to a wide range of customers. They are granted IDR 15M and IDR 5M respectively, the same opportunity to attend Tokopedia’s exclusive training and to develop their app further in Tokopedia.

Tokopedia’s VP of Engineering, Herman Widjaja, proudly says, “Indonesia should be proud of their young, innovative generations that are eager to solve the upcoming challenges of digital era. Tokopedia highly appreciate all Hack of Thrones participants and congratulate the winners, who, potentially join us. We believe, with the addition of Indonesia’s bests, we are closer to our mission: economic equality in Indonesia through digital solutions.”

Hack of Thrones was sought after by many tech enthusiast. However, only 90 tightly-selected applicants finally advanced to the final which was held on February 9, 2019.
