Promising full support for Dolby Atmos in an easy-to-use package, and at no extra cost to existing users, is the latest major release of Logic Pro too good to be true?

Apple’s Logic Pro 10.7 in all its glory.

In a rare moment during the launch of Spatial Audio on the company’s eponymous music service, Apple broke their own rules regarding the discussion of features intended for future products. Near the end of a press release, where Apple Music’s Zane Lowe humbly proffers that “Spatial Audio will transform music”, a short sentence confirms that “Apple is building immersive music-authoring tools directly into Logic Pro later this year.” And while the debut of Dolby Atmos on Apple Music was exciting in and of itself — for reasons that could fill an entire article on this subject alone — the prospect of being able to create and produce immersive music with nothing more than a Mac and a $199 application was really exciting. Enter, Logic Pro 10.7.
