What does the Reception of ‘Tenet’ in India convey?

Christopher Nolan is undoubtedly the most celebrated Director in the world right now. The larger chunk of movie lovers across the world adore him and they just wait for a Nolan movie to hit Theatres. Even in these unprecedented times, only Nolan’s ‘Tenet’ was seen as a saving grace for cinema and Theatre culture across the Globe.

Also, on the other hand, India is one special country, which celebrates cinema and adores many fantastic directors and actors across the world. ‘The Dark Knight’ and ‘Inception’ were the movies that created a huge fan base for Nolan in India. The reception and love for Nolan’s movies got increased in India for each of his outings since then.

Theatre culture in India has been very strong and when this current pandemic situation kept theatres future at risk, all the eyes were on Nolan’s ‘Tenet’, that’s how impactful Nolan’s movie can be in India.

Keeping the rising cases of Covid in mind and the only 50% capacity rule for Theatres, still ‘Tenet’ did a decent job in India and started to give hope for all the Indian movies. In the first weekend of its release, Tenet collected 4.6 crores which is a promising revenue in the present scenario.

People are eager to watch movies in Theatres, that’s been clear for now considering the reception of Tenet, but for that eagerness to turn into a reality where people start to move towards theatres, there have to be releases of some Crazy local movies.

Even the safety measures matter a lot, the entire film fraternity and theatres should promote the safety measures being taken at theatres. They have to inject a safe feeling into the public about watching a movie in Theater.

The reception of ‘Tenet’ conveys that, India may continue its strong Theatre going culture even though there has been the rise of OTT platforms during this pandemic. The only question is that, how long will it take for theatres to take over its a stronghold, and only time will decide this.
